Fun Facts

  1. Both the males and the females take care of their offspring which are ready to fledge between 60-75 days after hatching.
  2. Normally they continue to breed with the same partner throughout their life (monogamous) and they mate between July and March.
  3. The males are larger than females but quite similar and are normally distinguished by their sound where that of males is much stronger and louder than that of females.
  4. They do not fly much but when they do, they fly with other geese and form the letter V or fly in a long line.
  5. The Egyptian geese are a cross breed between geese and ducks (shelduck) and have features of both.
