  1. Normally they continue to breed with the same partner throughout their life (monogamous).
  2. With a length of approximately 13-17cm makes them one of the smallest parrots.
  3. Research shows that during flight they are capable of turning their head at 270 degrees/second which is as fast as that of insects.
  4. The oldest fossils of lovebirds were discovered in Africa and date back to 1.9 million years ago.
  5. In the world there are nine species of these colourful birds and show their affection in different ways including by feeding each other.
