  1. The peacock is a sacred annimal for Hindu religion as the spots on its tail symbolize the eyes of the gods.
  2. Both males and females spread their tail feathers for various reasons including to communicate, protect themselves but primarily to attract their mates.
  3. During the mating season the males shed their feathers (molt) which will then regrow by the upcoming season.
  4. Their call is quite loud and can be heard from over a kilometre away and can make around twenty seven different sounds.
  5. Capable of flying at a speed of 16km/hr but cannot fly at a high altitude due to their size and weight.
