  1. During the breeding season females have the tendency to destroy the eggs of other nests and this is the main reason for eggs failing to hatch.
  2. Only the females incubate the eggs but after hatching the males together with the females help in taking care of the young.
  3. The males are 15% larger than their female counterparts.
  4. They are very vocal birds and make a wide range of sounds including the most common two syllabled call ‘cussik-cussik’.
  5. Scientists documented their existence since the eighteenth century when they obtained their official name.
