- The peacock is a sacred annimal for Hindu religion as the spots on its tail symbolize the eyes of the gods.
- Both males and females spread their tail feathers for various reasons including to communicate, protect themselves but primarily to attract their mates.
- During the mating season the males shed their feathers (molt) which will then regrow by the upcoming season.
- Their call is quite loud and can be heard from over a kilometre away and can make around twenty seven different sounds.
- Capable of flying at a speed of 16km/hr but cannot fly at a high altitude due to their size and weight.
