The Ministry for the Environment, Energy, and the Regeneration of the Grand Harbour, together with Project Green and Saving Our Blue, has officially kicked off the fourth edition of the Islands Cleanup Campaign with a successful cleanup event at Gnejna Bay, covering both the valley and the coast. This initiative sets a strong example for private companies in Malta to follow. By organizing valley and coastal cleanups with their teams, these companies can contribute significantly to a cleaner environment.
This campaign aims to make a lasting environmental impact. For every ton of waste collected during this season, two trees will be planted. Thanks to the efforts of last year’s Islands Cleanup campaign, over 2,000 tons of waste were removed, resulting in the planting of 4,000 trees.
The Islands Cleanup initiative is organized every year and seeks to raise public awareness about the importance of protecting our valleys and coastal areas. Private companies, schools, NGOs, and any other groups are encouraged to register for their own cleanup event to contribute towards this cause. They will be provided with the necessary equipment, including gloves, bags, waste vehicles, and safety instructions to ensure a safe and efficient cleanup process.
Participants will also be assisted in weighing the waste they collect during their event, which will be separated on-site in line with applicable waste separation regulations to ensure that all recyclable material is processed for recycling. All participating organizations will receive a certificate of participation for their efforts towards a better environment.
Registration is free of charge!
Let’s continue working together for a greener environment.
Għar-raba’ sena konsekuttiva, qed jittella’ l-avveniment tal-Islands Cleanup tal-gżejjer Maltin mill-Ministeru għall-Ambjent, l-Enerġija u r-Riġenerazzjoni tal-Port il-Kbir b’kollaborazzjoni ma’ Project Green u Saving Our Blue. Din id-darba, it-tindif se jsir fil-bajja tal-Ġnejna, li jkopri kemm il-wied kif ukoll il-kosta.
Din l-inizjattiva hija turija ċara ta’ kemm jista’ jsir ġid għall-ambjent meta ningħaqdu flimkien u norganizzaw clean-ups tal-widien u l-kosta tagħna. Bla dubju, kumpaniji jistgħu jagħtu kontribut għal ambjent aktar nadif bħala parti mir-Responsabilità Soċjali Korporattiva (CSR).
L-għan ta’ din il-kampanja huwa li għal kull tunnellata ta’ skart miġbur, jitħawlu żewġ siġar. Fil-fatt, is-sena li għaddiet inġabru aktar minn 2,000 tunnellata ta’ skart u b’hekk tħawwlu mal-4,000 siġra.
L-inizjattiva Islands Cleanup tqajjem kuxjenza pubblika dwar l-importanza tal-protezzjoni tal-widien u l-oqsma kostali tagħna. Kumpaniji privati, skejjel, għaqdiet mhux governattivi u kwalunkwe gruppi oħra huma mħeġġa jirreġistraw għall-avveniment tagħhom ta’ tindif biex jagħtu sehemhom f’din il-kawża. Min jipparteċipa jingħata it-tagħmir meħtieġ, inklużi ingwanti, boroż, vetturi għall-iskart, u struzzjonijiet ta’ sigurtà biex jiġi żgurat proċess ta’ tindif sigur u effiċjenti.
Il-parteċipanti jingħataw għajnuna wkoll biex jiżnu l-iskart li jkunu ġabru waqt l-avveniment tagħhom fejn jiġi sseparat fuq il-post skont ir-regolamenti applikabbli għas-separazzjoni tal-iskart biex jiġi żgurat li l-materjal kollu li jista’ jiġi riċiklat jiġi pproċessat għar-riċiklaġġ.
L-organizzazzjonijiet kollha li jipparteċipaw jirċievu ċertifikat ta’ parteċipazzjoni għall-isforzi tagħhom lejn ambjent aħjar.
Ir-reġistrazzjoni hija b’xejn!
Ejjew inkomplu naħdmu flimkien għal ambjent aktar ħadrani.
